Going through a divorce can be difficult. Issues surrounding property division can be particularly challenging to deal with.

Courts in New York generally handle property division matters using the rules of equitable distribution. In doing so, a judge considers how long the couple was married, the earning potential of each person as well as who earned the property to begin with in order to settle property division matters in a fair and equitable manner.

A recognizable celebrity couple recently decided to end their marriage. Because of their high-value assets, they could face some difficulties when it comes to property division.

Ashley Judd and race car driver Dario Franchitti announced that they are divorcing. They have been married for 11 years. The couple said the decision was mutual in a recent statement.

Child custody and child support matters can be difficult to settle. Fortunately, the two will not have to settle those kinds of matters because they did not have children together. They will, however, have a variety of other matters to settle. Franchitti is a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner. Ashley Judd is an actress who has starred in television shows and movies. It is likely that the couple has earned substantial salaries during their 11 years together.

Complex issues must be sorted through during a divorce. It can be even more difficult to sort through those matters when people are dealing with big emotions. That is why it is often best to rely on an experienced divorce attorney throughout the entire process.
